NEW YORK CITY, NY (January 22nd, 2023)                                                                                                                    Contact: Prof. Udeh 9jaamericans@gmail.com +1347 244 2724 (whatsapp)

Nigeria American Democracy Institute Inc, owner of the platform Nigerian American Political Forum which hosts the Diaspora Zoom Meeting, announced today that it will host the ENUGU STATE GOVERNORSHIP DEBATE scheduled to start at 8pm Nigerian Time (2pm EST) on Sunday, February 12th, 2023. The Zoom debate will also be broadcast live in several radio stations across Enugu State to reach the grassroots. The duration is two hours.

NIGERIAN AMERICAN DEMOCRACY INSTITUTE INC., advances, deepens and enhances democracy and freedom for Nigerian Americans by encouraging them to actively engage and participate in the political process both in the United States and Nigeria.  We are a non-partisan, non-profit and non-governmental organization.  Our main focus is democracy advocacy and the Diaspora Zoom Meeting will be an ongoing event to provide a platform for civil discourse between the candidates of various political offices and the electorates who will vote them into the offices.

Candidates for the debate are selected based on attendance of our Diaspora Zoom Meeting.  We had invited four top Governorship Candidates based on our internal data.  Three candidates attended the Zoom meeting and promised to participate in the debate. They are:                                                                                                        Hon. Barr.  Chijioke Edeoga of Labour Party (LP), Dr. Peter Mbah of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Frank Nweke Jnr. of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA)

Here is the format for the debate:

There will be a Diaspora Zoom Meeting on Sunday, January 29th at 2pm EST for members of Enugu State Diaspora Community to deliberate, discuss and determine the most important issues facing Enugu State people of Nigeria.

Based on the issues identified, coordinators will craft out questions to be addressed by the candidates. There will be a very neutral moderator to guide the debate.

We believe with this format we can reflect on what are the most important issues facing Enugu State as we provide opportunities for the candidates to publicly respond and explain how they intend to solve the issues/problems.

The Diaspora Zoom Meeting on January 29th will be moderated by Prof. Eze Sunny Udeh, Ph.D, Prof. Vitus Ozoke, Ph.D, Dr. Amaka Oduh, and Dr. Ife-Sinachi Ugwuonye-Okechukwu. There will be several co-hosts who will assist to provide an engaging environment.  We invite our Enugu State Diaspora to join us.  Come with your issues and ideas, questions for the candidates.  You can participate via zoom, zoom chat etc.  We want to hear from as many Diasporans as possible.  As always, Dr. M. O. Ene will give the  closing remark. The outcome of this meeting will be made public for transparency of the process.

Thank you.
