ALLEGED LAND GRABBING: UMUEZENEVU people protest against those who illegally entered their land and destroyed economic trees.

The people of Umuezenevu Village, Ibute-Egede Autonomous Community in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State have protested against those who illegally entered their land and destroyed their economic trees on the guise of building illegal estate.

The people led by various men, women and youths organizations including some members of the land committee in the community stormed the streets on Saturday, July 5th 2025, marching from their Awele Udeh Civic Hall, Umuezenevu to the land in question, with placards of various inscriptions calling on the state Governor, Dr Peter Mba and the government of Enugu State to end the impunity of alleged land grabbers in their ancestral land.  Their various inscriptions read as follow:

UDI LGA CHAIRMAN HELP US SECURE OUR LAND

GOV PETER MBA STOP LAND GRABBERS IN ENUGU STATE.

WE SAY NO TO LAND GRABBERS

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH LEAVE OUR LAND

REMOVE YOUR BULLDOZERS FROM UMUEZENEVU LAND IMMEDIATELY

EZENEVU LAND BELONGS TO UMUEZENEVU

LAND COMMITTEE HAS NO POWER TO SELL LAND

LAND COMMITTEE HAS NO POWER OF  ATTORNEY

LAND COMMITTEE & THEIR CONTRACTOR ARE NOT TRANSPARENT

WHOEVER HAD TRANSACTIONS ON UMUEZENEVU LAND DID SO ILLEGALLY

UMUEZENEVU HAS NO LAND DISPUTE WITH OUR BROTHER UMUANEKE

WE HAVE NO DISPUTE WHATSOEVER WITH UKANA

Addressing journalists at the cleared but grabbed land which is located along the new dual carriage- 9th Mile – Obollo Afor highway, the Chairman of Umuezenevu Village, Elder Patrick Onodu said their protest is against alleged land grabbers who, without contact or negotiation entered Umuezenevu ancestral land destroying economic trees, damaging vegetation  as they wreak havoc on the farmland.  We are calling on all those masking under various names to come out and remove your bulldozers and caterpillars from our land immediately for we have not sold or authorized anybody or entity to sell our land.  Whoever had any financial transactions on Umuezenevu land did so illegally.

We are pleading with Governor Peter Mbah to please save us from the hand of these evil and alleged land grabbers. His Excellency should please strictly enforce the land grabbing laws and prevent these land terrorists from pillaging our farmlands to avoid breakdown of law and order.  ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
